This is Africa

Tanzania is situated on the east coast of Africa. It is known for its resources like the special stone Tanzanite, as well as beautiful destinations filled with wildlife like popular safari spot featured in the picture above called Ngorongoro Crater. The Safari experience is not one to be missed. Being so close to the native wildlife while singing hakuna matata with your African guide and eating nutella from your jeep is something you can do only in Africa.

For the ambitious type there is Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world and the highest in Africa standing at 5895m. The Machame route is the most popular which is a 7 day hike. CNN news reporter took on the challenge and made some great points you learn from the experience, number one is...

1. It takes a village

Without your porters and guides the mission would seem impossible. Their knowledge of the land and their strength to somehow leave camp after you and be back at the next one with dinner already done still amazes me. The guides constantly encouraging you and saying 'pole pole', which is slowly slowly in English was all the help you need to press on.

Tanzania is also home to the native Masai people. They live in mud huts and live according to their traditional practices.

Zanzibar is a small island off the coast of Tanzania. It features clear waters and white sandy beaches. Snorkeling is amazing in Zanzibar. A lot of beaches are secluded so you have the space and freedom to swim and observe the array of sea life in waters that you can't even believe the colour is real. Getting to one of these locations like Mnemba Island, you have to trust the locals and their 'sturdy' wooden boats to get you across. The adventure is worth it and anyone who has been to Africa has heard the saying 'TIA'... this is Africa. Zanzibar is a must see if you are traveling the east of Africa. Perfect place to finish up a holiday.
